10 Responsibilities of Parents*
1) Find support groups
for yourself and your child.
2) Read and become knowledgable
about the characteristics
and needs of gifted children.
3) Cooperate with school personnel.
4) Beware of unrealistic expectations and
burdensome pressures.
5) Promote the child's understanding of self
and others.
6) Support the gifted program with time,
expertise, etc.
7) Stay informed and voice your opinion to school
board members and federal and state legislators.
8) Provide a home environment that allows for
both stimulation and quite reflection.
9) Help your child learn independence and
task committment.
10) Know your rights and become an
advocate for your child.
